Sicilian cannoles are traditional fried desserts that were consumed originally during the Carnival period but have been so successful that they have become the most popular and appreciated Sicilian sweet and are enjoyed during all the seasons. Sicilian cannolo is a fried crunchy wrap, stuffed with a filling of sheep’s ricotta cream. In some areas of the Sicily there are also chocolate drops and piece of candied fruits. The Sicilian cannoli are also garnished with candied cherry, orange peels or chopped pistachios.
